Persuasive Email
A persuasive email makes a clear request and builds a strong case for why the reader should say yes. It uses evidence, a specific request and it answers the reader's possible worries.
Unit 6: The Space We Share (Concept 6: A World for All)، صفحة Writing a Persuasive Email (صفحة 30)، وبعدها مهمة الكتابة في 6.5 Summative Assessment (صفحة 31). الكتاب بيطلب إيميل of about (150-180) words.
Both emails are formal and polite. A formal email asks for something. A persuasive email asks and argues: it gives evidence, answers a concern and ends with a call to action.
Formal Email | Persuasive Email |
|---|---|---|
According to… / One volunteer explained that… |
Although some may argue that… |
I look forward to hearing from you. | call to action: I would welcome the chance to discuss this further. |
The book divides the persuasive email into seven sections. Each section has a purpose and some useful phrases.
| Request: Support to Expand Our Mangrove Project |
| Dear [Name/Title], |
| I am writing to propose… / Our club has recently… |
| I would really appreciate your support in… / Specifically, we are requesting… |
| According to…, … / One volunteer explained that… |
| Although some may argue that…, … |
| Thank you for considering this request. / I would welcome the chance to discuss this further. |
(Useful Phrases)

Plan first, then write section by section. Keep it formal, specific and polite, and stay between 150 and 180 words.
Dear Mr Kamal,
(Our club has recently…).
Specifically, we are requesting…
Although some may argue that…
- Closing call to action:
Thanks a lot.
- Direct: "The beach makes me feel responsible," a volunteer said. ← Reported: One volunteer explained that the beach made her feel responsible.
The expert said that mangroves protect the coast.
- أفعال التقرير المفيدة: explained that / told us that / claimed that / warned that / pointed out that.
Yes. Because this is persuasive writing, you can build your evidence paragraph with PEEL: Point, Evidence, Explain, Link. The book's own framework for arguments is JRE (Justify, Reasoning, Evidence), and both work together.
|---|---|---|
| P = Point | النقطة: ليه طلبك مهم | This matters because plastic waste is harming local marine life. |
| E = Evidence | الدليل: رقم أو كلام حد | According to a fisherman we interviewed, his catch has fallen sharply. |
| E = Explain | اشرح الدليل ده بيثبت إيه | This shows that pollution affects people as well as wildlife. |
| L = Link | ارجع للطلب بتاعك | That is why our clean-up project deserves the school's support. |
(Model Answer)
Subject: Request: Support to Adopt Our Local Coastline
Dear Mr Kamal,
I am writing to propose a next step for our Environmental Club. Last term, our members collected forty bags of plastic from the beach near our school, and we now hope to adopt a 500-metre stretch of it.
Specifically, we are requesting permission to hold a clean-up every month, a small budget for gloves and bins, and one assembly to raise awareness.
This matters because plastic waste is harming the marine life that local fishermen depend on. According to a fisherman we interviewed, his catch had fallen noticeably since the beach became polluted. This shows that pollution affects local families as well as wildlife, so our project deserves the school's support.
Although some may argue that this could take time away from lessons, all clean-ups would take place on Saturday mornings. If the school supports us, then students will learn responsibility outside the classroom.
Thank you for considering this request. I would welcome the chance to discuss it further.
Yours sincerely,
Youssef Adel
Environmental Club Leader
Support to Adopt Our Local Coastline.
Yours sincerely.
- Opening / Hook: «I am writing to propose…»
- The Ask: «Specifically, we are requesting…»
- Supporting evidence: الدليل بالـ reported speech (قاعدة الوحدة): «According to a fisherman we interviewed, his catch had fallen…».
- PEEL في نفس الفقرة: Point = This matters because…، Evidence = According to a fisherman…، Explain = This shows that pollution affects local families as well as wildlife، Link = so our project deserves the school's support (رجع للطلب).
- Addressing a concern: «Although some may argue that…» وبعدها جملة شرطية If…, then…
- Closing call to action: شكر + طلب خطوة جاية (discuss it further).
- اللغة: رسمية من غير اختصارات، فيها relative clause (the marine life that local fishermen depend on)، وروابط واضحة (Although / If…, then / so).
